Arshan “Mountain” Center

The Arshan “Mountain” Center is located on the north-western Lake Baikal shore at an altitude of 900m in a natural mountain park, 100km from the lake. It is a site of several buildings of 6 to 7 storeys, some of which are connected by covered walkways, with therapeutic and residential facilities all integrated into the natural mountain landscape of medium altitude.

Your trip to Arshan will begin with a flight from Paris to Irkutsk, the capital of the Irkutsk Oblast, which was founded in 1632 by the Cossacks. It is located on the River Angara banks and it is the only city in Siberia that has kept its wooden architecture. The ancient isbas, built without any nails, decorated with wood carvings are located next to the magnificent stone buildings. Irkutsk has 700 monuments of history and culture. Close to Mongolia and China, it was the crossroad of the great caravan routes which transported furs to Asia and brought back tea and silk. Irkutsk is home to a mix of Russians, Buryat Buddhists, Toungouses, Yakuts and other peoples, and it is the starting point for discovering Lake Baikal.

Goryatchinsk “Lake” Center

The Goryatchinsk “Lake” Center is located at the edge of the Baikal halfway along the lake on its southeastern bank, about 15 minutes walk from the lake beaches via a path through the forest. It is a campus with 12 brick and wood buildings with one to three storeys that are perfectly integrated into the Siberian forest (taiga) with its birches and tall pines with reddish bark.

If you have chosen Goryatchinsk Center you will arrive in Ulan-ude, the capital Republic of Buryatia which was founded in 1666 by Cossacks as a summer camp on the Ouda River banks about 100 km Southeast of Lake Baikal. A curious fact is that until 1991, Ulan-Oude was closed city forbidden to foreigners. You will be welcomed at the Irkutsk airport by a guide-interpreter who will accompany you throughout your stay to facilitate your visit and allow you to concentrate on the essentials, namely your therapy and discovery of this wonderful region.
